PLANTING CUCUMBER WITH THE APRIL MONTHLY GROW KIT

WHAT’S INSIDE THE APRIL GROW KIT

April is where the growing season really comes into its own. Warmer days, lighter evenings and rising soil temperatures bring a real sense of progress in the garden. This month’s Grow Kit reflects that shift, bringing together Charlotte Potatoes, Cucumber and Coriander, a trio chosen for fresh flavour, easy growing and the promise of fresh harvests as the season gathers pace.

From the earthy satisfaction of digging up your own Charlotte Potatoes, to crisp, refreshing Cucumbers and the lift of Coriander, this collection sets you up perfectly for productive spring and summer growing.

Every Monthly Grow Kit Box includes everything you need to grow confidently from seed to harvest. Inside, you’ll find premium, open-pollinated seeds, plant labels and clear, easy-to-follow growing guides to support you at every stage.

You can also customise your kit with our organic compost mix, biodegradable pots and recycled plastic saucers — ideal for giving your seedlings the strongest possible start.

CUCUMBER

Cucumbers are a true taste of summer, crisp, refreshing and incredibly fast growing and productive. They thrive in warm, bright conditions and quickly develop into climbing plants that bring life and structure to your space. Whether grown in a greenhouse, on a sunny patio or trained up supports outdoors, cucumbers are perfect for making the most of the season.

Their cool, clean flavour makes them a kitchen staple, ideal for salads, sandwiches, drinks and light summer dishes. With regular harvesting, plants will continue to produce, giving you a steady supply of fresh, homegrown cucumbers throughout the warmer months.

HOW TO GROW CUCUMBERS

Start cucumber seeds indoors in April using small pots filled with moist, free draining compost.

Sow seeds about 1–2 cm deep, cover lightly and water gently.

Place in a warm, bright spot, ideally 20–25°C and seedlings should appear within 7–10 days.

Once established, move plants to a sunny windowsill or greenhouse and keep the compost consistently moist.

As they grow, transplant into larger pots or grow bags and provide support such as a cane or trellis for climbing. After the risk of frost has passed, cucumbers can be moved outdoors to a warm, sheltered position.

Water regularly and feed weekly once flowering begins.

Harvest little and often to encourage continuous production and enjoy fresh cucumbers all summer long.
