PLANTING DWARF FRENCH BEANS WITH THE MAY MONTHLY GROW KIT

WHAT’S INSIDE THE MAY GROW KIT

May is a month full of momentum in the garden. The soil is warming, seedlings are thriving and everything begins to grow with new energy. This month’s Grow Kit embraces that seasonal shift, bringing together  CourgetteDwarf French Beans and Curled Parsley, a combination selected for easy growing, reliable harvests and fresh summer flavour.

At the centre of this month’s box are Dwarf French Beans , a compact and highly productive crop that’s perfect for gardens of every size. Quick to establish and easy to care for, they produce an abundance of tender green beans without needing large supports, making them ideal for pots, raised beds and smaller growing spaces. Paired with vigorous courgettes and fragrant curled parsley, this Grow Kit is designed to keep your kitchen and garden full throughout the season ahead.

DWARF FRENCH BEANS

Dwarf French beans are one of the easiest and most productive summer vegetables to grow. Compact, tidy and packed with flavour, they produce generous crops of slender green beans without needing tall supports or complicated care. Their bushy growth habit makes them ideal for pots, raised beds and smaller gardens, while their quick-growing nature means you won’t be waiting long for harvests.

The ‘Elmore’ variety is especially reliable, producing tender, stringless beans that are perfect steamed, stir-fried or eaten fresh from the garden. Regular picking encourages even more pods to develop, rewarding you with a steady harvest throughout the summer months.

HOW TO GROW DWARF FRENCH BEANS

Sow seeds directly outdoors from May onwards once the soil has warmed and all risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot with rich, well drained soil. Plant seeds around 3–5 cm deep, spacing them evenly to give plants room to grow.

Keep the soil consistently moist while seedlings establish, especially during dry weather. Dwarf French beans are naturally compact, so they don’t usually require staking or support, making them wonderfully low maintenance.

Plants grow quickly and will soon begin producing tender green beans. Harvest regularly while pods are still young and crisp to encourage continuous cropping throughout the season. The more you pick, the more the plants will produce.
